The medicaton in the patch is called: diclofenac epolamine ' topical patch.It is a anti inflammatory non-steroidal medicine.If she has problems taking narcotics this may help, if the Doctors could start her out on a low dose opiate to take while she is on the patch she might be able to tolerate the opiate better. The patches are an NSAID & used for treating inflammation. Before kicking dirt on them I would give them a little time, I would imagine with the injection there is some inflammation going on & perhaps in a little time this may help.
